These four Gentlemen had a new vision to empower the Latino community. This new vision was based on Four Pillars: Academics, Loyalty, Leadership, and Hermanos Unidos. The founders are Michael Carrillo, Luis Moreno, Ricardo Ramos, and Richard Rosales. These Gentlemen and other future brothers stand by the Four Pillars.
The gentlemen of Delta Pi Rho also established as their motto, “Encendiendo el Fuego de la Hermandad,” which can be translated as “Lighting the Fire of Brotherhood.” This motto exemplifies the brotherhood that the brothers of Delta Pi Rho strive for. Their mission is to promote and uphold scholarship, unity, brotherhood, and the objectives of Delta Pi Rho for gentlemen interested in the Latino Culture.
The founders were concerned with the lack of unity and leadership on the campus at Purdue University and throughout other campuses across the nation and sought a way to unite other Latinos on campus. These gentlemen decided that they wanted to do things their own way and start an organization that was different from the others. They set off to seek other gentlemen who were interested in these goals. With the crossing of the first line, Albert Escobedo, Michael Rodriguez, and Erik Serrano joined the founders in their mission.
Delta Pi Rho continues to uphold the four pillars while preparing our men to graduate and succeed in the real world beyond a university setting.
